Granada Hills is a district in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles, California.
This area now known as Granada Hills was acquired in about 1881 by George K. Porter, a pioneer of the
north San Fernando Valley and one of the founders of the city of San Fernando. It is located just north
of the North Hills district, west of the Mission Hills and Sylmar districts, and just east of the Northridge
and Porter Ranch districts. Granada Hills remains a thriving suburban community, orginally the area was used
for farming, beans and wheat and other crops. Groves can still be seen as small groups of orange, lemon
or grapefruit trees in some residential yards. Granada hills is served by the Los Angeles Unified School
